I created this piece while thinking about the Seven Colored Mountains I visited during a trip to Argentina. Together with a few strangers I had just met at a hostel, we rented a car and drove all the way north, close to the Bolivian border. It was a special area that not many tourists visit. I was drawn to the rugged dryness of the landscape—something about places like that has always attracted me, and my travels often lead me there.
The buildings in the villages were made of sandstone, all in soft beige tones that blended naturally into the surrounding land. In the main square, colorful textiles with indigenous patterns were sold, and we sat down together to enjoy local dishes made from corn. It was the first time I had seen mountains surrounding a village in such a spectrum of colors.
Beyond the striking beauty of the landscape, the colors taught me something as well. I took this trip during a time when I was standing at a crossroads in my life, and the mountains reminded me how rich and diverse life can be. They showed me that it’s okay not to follow only one path, but to explore many things at the same time, if a decision can't be made at that moment. This wall piece therefore represents the courage to keep life colorful, open, and take the opportunities that life offers.
